Celebrating Empty: Butoh Workshop (Eureka, CA) 2018/12/21 & 2018/12/22

Friday night will feature a somatic journey of relaxation and awareness, coupled with exploration of the Japanese concept of ‘ma’ (間 – the space between things). We’ll finish with some free-dancing on some thematic prompts.
Saturday will feature more partner-based relaxation and awareness work, followed by play with Butoh Dance techniques new and old and the devising and performance of group and solo dances to celebrate our new-found emptiness and the potential therein.

Commedia Masks for Sale!

$100 each or $175 for two + shipping from Blue Lake, California.
These commedia half-masks are made from paper-mache, spackle, gesso, and acrylic paint. They are sealed on the inside and outside to protect them from sweat and humidity. They are designed to fit most faces and the fit can be easily altered by the wearer with the use of foam padding.
These masks designed and created by Jordan Rosin are inspired by the designs of his mask teacher Bruce Mars and intended to play as zanni, or lower-class servant types.

In this workshop with physical theatre artist and teacher Jordan Rosin, participants will utilize principles from a variety of physical theatre traditions (Butoh Dance in particular) to cultivate an awareness, availability, and responsiveness that will allow them to move and act with intention and impact both onstage and off. Drawing on forms such as yoga, martial arts, acrobatics, clown, contact improvisation, as well as somatic modalities like Alexander Technique and Bartenieff Fundamentals, Jordan will help students tap into universal resonance through engagement with both their dynamic and receptive aspects, expanding both their expressive capacity and the sensitivity necessary to truly be moved by the ‘other’

Resonant Bodies: Movement Workshop for Performers (New York, NY) – 2018/08/03 – 2018/08/05

In this 4-module, weekend workshop with physical theatre artist and teacher Jordan Rosin, participants will utilize principles from a variety of physical theatre traditions to cultivate an awareness, availability, and responsiveness that will allow them to speak, move, and act with resonance in the dynamic space of the stage. Drawing on Butoh Dance, yoga, martial arts, acrobatics, Linklater Voice Technique, as well as somatic modalities like Alexander Technique and Bartenieff Fundamentals, Jordan will help students expand their dynamic, expressive capacity while cultivating the awareness and receptivity necessary to make healthy and sustainable choices in rehearsal and performance.
